A band of the Institute of Business Management (IoBM), The Psychonauts, has beat 16 teams to win the first prize in a Battle of the Bands contest by performing Aaroh's "Raag Neela" and "Rise Today" by Alter Bridge.
The Institute sent the band of talented musicians and singers to compete in the annual LUMS Music Festival between February 6 and 8.
The band consisted of Vocalist Bilal Ahmed, Musa Khan and Mujtaba Ali on guitars, Anas Lutfi on bass and Hyder Ali on drums.
The IoBM’s Music and Arts Society (MARTS) had held auditions to select the best talent at the institution. The seven selected participants were trained by Syed Ahmed Nadeem, who mentored the team for the competition. Managed by Society President Salman Ahmed and led by Faculty Advisor Nabhan Karim, the team participated in four categories -- Eastern singing, Western singing, instrumental and the main event the Battle of the Bands.
Shiza Naseem made it to the top 10 of Western and Eastern singing and Ibrahim Khalid made it to the top 10 of Eastern singing. Jazz-Fusion Guitarist Mujtaba Ali made it to the finals of the instrumental competition.
