Asians should be masters of their destiny: Rabbani
ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani said Monday that the fate of Asia lay in the hands of Asian people and they themselves had to become masters of their own destiny as the Asian manpower and resources had been exploited by the imperialists.
The Senate chairman expressed these views while addressing a gathering in connection with 68th Founding Day of the Peoples’ Republic of China at a local hotel here.
He felicitated the government and people of China on the celebrations of 68th Founding Day of China. He said that Pakistan and China shared a lot in common. He said that commonality also existed in approach in international affairs and fight against imperialism.
“Relationship between the two is highly remarkable and that the multifaceted cooperation between the two sides would be beneficial for the peoples of Pakistan and China. Trade volume between the two is on a high trajectory,” he said.
He continued the people of Aisa had been exploited and it was time for Asia to look within and take control of its resources, he remarked. “It is the quest for better life for the people of Asia that Pakistan and China stand together,” Raza Rabbani said. Pakistan and China shared a common vision as far as region and Asia was concerned.
Rabbani said that friendship between the two sides had a legacy behind it and had withstood the destitute of time and strains.
Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong said that China and Pakistan were strategic cooperative partners and both enjoyed themselves all weather friendship. He underscored the need for further deepening the mutually beneficial relation. “We are committed in promoting Belt and Road Initiative to create a win-win situation,” the envoy said.
China–Pakistan relation, he said, were a model of state-to-state relation. Cooperation between the two had developed vigorously in various fields. The ambassador lauded the socio-economic development of Pakistan and said that efforts made by Pakistan in war against terrorism were commendable and the International community must acknowledge Pakistan’s contribution in eradicating terrorism.
