Drug-peddlers held

HARIPUR: The police arrested four alleged drug-peddlers and recovered heroin and marijuana from their possession during an operation in different parts of the city here on Saturday.

According to a press release issued from the office of district police officer, complaints had been lodged about drug peddlers in different areas of Haripur. The release said that an investigation into the complaints led to the arrests.

The police recovered around 2.5kg heroin and 1.2kg marijuana from the culprits. Those arrested were identified as Muhammad Faisal, resident of Sikandarpur, Tayab, resident of Mochi Bazaar, Shakeel of Sikandarpur and Malik Ibrar from Khalabat Township.

Three arrested with pistols:  Meanwhile, the Sara-e-Saleh police also claimed to have arrested a gang of three alleged robbers and recovered two pistols from their possession.

Those arrested were identified as Faizan, Muhammad Rafaqat and Iftikhar.

The city police have also registered a criminal case against two shopkeepers for their failure to make proper security arrangements despite repeated warnings.
