PESHAWAR: Director of the Pakistan Study Centre, University of Peshawar, Prof Dr Fakhrul Islam said on Sunday that higher education played a vital role in the development of a nation.
He expressed these views at the gathering of alumni of Pakistan Study Centre, University of Peshawar at the University of Chitral.
A press release issued here said that “Meet the Pakistan Studies Alumni” campaign launched by the Pakistan Study Centre, University of Peshawar was to keep in touch with alumni.
Earlier, such gatherings were held in Swabi, Mansehra, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Swat, Dir Upper and lower.
Dr Fakhrul Islam said that Pakistan Study Centre had produced more than 1500 highly qualified graduates. He said that the aim of the campaign was to reach out to the Pakistan Study Centre graduates and urge them to utilise their expertise for the country and the community at large around them.
Vice-chancellor of Chitral University Prof Dr Badsahah Bukhari appreciated the idea of meeting alumni at their respective districts. He said the credit for implementing such a novel idea went to Prof Dr Fakhrul Islam. He said that Pakistan Study Centre alumni could learn much from their mutual interaction.
