The Consulate General of Kingdom of Morocco, in association with Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Limited, has organised Moroccan Cultural & Food Festival at a hotel.
The Festival was inaugurated by Lt-Gen (retd) Haroon Aslam, CE & MD Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim, on February 4.
The purpose of the event is to promote Moroccan culture and cuisine in Pakistan.
As part of the event, a fashion show was presented where Pakistani models showcased Moroccan national dresses designed by Moroccan fashion designer Soumia Khadiri.
Renowned Moroccan Singer Hayat Al Alaoui sang her famous Arabic songs and a Pakistani national song “Ye Watan Tumhara Hai”.
A large number of people from all walks of life attended the event. They were served delicious Moroccan cuisine prepared by chef Brahim Ait Belaid. The Moroccan cuisine, live performance and the fashion show were much appreciated by the guests.
Speaking on the occasion, the honorary consul general of Morocco, Ishtiaq Baig, who was instrumental in organising the event, thanked the Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim for its support for the event and said that the festival would provide an opportunity to the Pakistanis to be familiar with the food and culture of their brother Muslim country, Morocco.
The Moroccan team consisted of a chef, a singer and a fashion designer, who have flown to Pakistan for the festival. The festival will continue for another few days at the hotel.
