Sharmeen’s documentary ‘A Girl in the River’ nominated for Emmys

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani filmmaker Sharmeen Obiad Chinoy’s documentary ‘A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgivenes’ has been nominated for three Emmy Awards, private TV channels reported on Wednesday.
Directed by Sharmeen, the documentary which deals with honour killings received nominations in three categories: Best Documentary, Outstanding Short Documentary and Outstanding Music and Sound.
Separately, Mohammad Ali Naqvi’s film ‘Among the Believers’ has been nominated in category Outstanding Politics and Government Documentary. The documentary, which has been banned in Pakistan, won two awards at Doc Edge, an international documentary film festival in New Zealand.
