Lawyers term PM's resignation demand unconstitutional
RAWALPINDI: Terming the demand of prime minister’s resignation unconstitutional and illegal, elected representatives of All Pakistan Lawyer’s Convention has passed a declaration in a meeting held here in the Judicial Complex Rawalpindi here on Monday.
The elected members of All Pakistan Bars Associations, including Senior Vice President Supreme Court Bar Association Bakhtiar Ali Siyal, Member Pakistan Bar Council Malik Ghulam Mustafa Kandwal, Rawalpindi High Court Bar Association General Secretary Barrister Malik Shah Nawaz Noon, Islamabad High Court Bar Association General Secretary Amjad Arbab Abbasi and several other representatives, strongly condemned the demand of PM’s resignation. The lawyers moved a ‘declaration’ which was carried with big majority.
Member Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) Malik Ghulam Mustafa Kandwal has strongly criticised the statements of Supreme Court Bar Association President and Pakistan Bar Council Vice Chairman demanding immediated resignation of the prime minister. “We are with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif but some conspirators wanted to spoil relations between Supreme Court and Nawaz government,” he alleged. He also demanded immediate resignation of judges having corruption references against them but which had been pending for a long time.
Former President of Supreme Court Bar Association and presently Member of Pakistan Bar Council Kamran Murtaza said that demanding PM’s resignation is illegal and an unconstitutional. He can either resign of his sweet will or he can be removed through a no confidence motion in the parliament.
