SUKKUR: Pakistan People’s Party’s Saeed Ghani visited the Bhutto family mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on Sunday, where he laid a floral wreath on the grave of Benazir Bhutto and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He also offered Fateha for the departed souls.
Later, talking to the media, Saeed Ghani said that his victory in PS-114 was the victory of Karachi. He further added that the people of Karachi had reposed their confidence in the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Asif Ali Zardari.
The PPP leader said his victory proved that the people of Karachi were with the PPP. He said that it was a tough constituency for the PPP, but the people of PS-114 rejected the other candidates and elected a PPP candidate for the first time.
Saeed Ghani said that allegations of rigging — raised by his opponents — were baseless, however, the fact was that his voters were harassed and victimized, adding that the election process in PS-114 was transparent. He said that he and the other candidates, including the JI candidate, had demanded the deployment of Pak Army at the election booths to the Election Commission of Pakistan, but their concerns were not addressed.
He said that the MQM candidate had neither accused them of rigging during the process of voting and nor accused Rangers, but after the defeat the party started accusing them of rigging and other charges. He said the MQM used the resources of the Karachi Municipal Corporation.
He further said that the MQM London and MQM Pakistan were two sides of the same coin and believed in violence and extortion.
While talking about Nawaz Sharif, Saeed Ghani said that there was no chance for Nawaz Sharif to rescue himself from the the Panama Leaks case. He said that the Supreme Court would soon announce its verdict.
