Khattak appointed IG, to retire in four months

LAHORE: The Punjab government has issued a notification of transfer and posting of officers on Monday.

According to the notification Usman Khattak has been posted as IGP Punjab. He was posted as acting IGP a few months ago after the retirement of Mushtaq Sukhera. Interestingly, Usman Khattak will retire after four months.

Moreover, Additional Secretary CM Secretariat Syed Masood Numan has been transferred and posted as PSO to CM. Punjab Economic Research Institute. Capt (r) Zahid Mumtaz has been transferred and posted as Additional Secretary Energy Department (Security and Coordination). Boy shot at: A 15-year-old employee of a car showroom was shot at and injured in a crossfire over monetary dispute in the Lytton Road police limits on Monday.

Police said Sheikh Mashhood demanded Rs1.5 million back from Waqas Butt, the owner of a hotel. The accused got offended and opened indiscriminate firing. As a result, the showroom employee received injuries while a number of vehicles were also damaged. The accused fled the scene. 

TWO die: Two persons, including a woman were crushed to death by speeding vehicles in different areas of the city on Monday.In Manga Mandi, a woman was killed and five others, including team of polio workers received injuries when a rickshaw collided with a bike on Raiwind Road. Rescue 1122 reached the scene and shifted the victims to hospital. Separately, a biker was killed when he lost his control and collided with a trash bin. The victim has been identified as Salman, 28.

ARRESTED: Badami Bagh police claimed to have arrested nine criminals involved in drugs peddling, theft and prostitution. Police also recovered drugs, stolen bikes and stake money from their custody. DIG Operations Dr Haider recommended cash reward for police teams.

Infant dies: A four-month-old baby lost his life due to the alleged negligence of doctors of a private hospital in Misri Shah.  The family of the victim protested against doctors at Lal Pul in Harbanspura by blocking the road. The victim’s father Shahbaz has appealed to the chief minister for justice.
