Fuel tanker death toll climbs to 221

BAHAWALPUR: The fuel tanker death toll Friday climbed to 221 as two more injured succumbed to their injuries.

Reportedly, 12-year-old Alishaba died at Nishtar Hospital Multan and Obaid-ur-Rehman at Jinnah Hospital Lahore. At the moment 13 people are under treatment at BVH, Nishtar Hospital Multan and Jinnah Hospital Lahore according to Focal person Dr Aamer Mehmood.

Meanwhile, thirty four DNA test reports of the victims were received by forensic laboratory QMC and BVH and the district administration. Some 34 dead bodies have been identified as their DNA samples were verified and matched. After receiving the DNA reports the Focal person Rao Tasleem Akhtar and doctors' team reached the THQ Hospital Ahmadpur East where they informed the families of victims about the identification of their relatives. Meanwhile, PML-N MPA Qazi Adnan Fareed and chairman Municipal Committee Ahmadpur East Usman Rashid and councilors held the Quran Khawani for the departed souls.
