DREA GHAZI KHAN: The Pakistan Awami Tehrik will never strike a deal with the accused of the Model Town massacre.
This was stated by the PAT president Dr Raheeq Abbasi, while talking to the media here on Wednesday. He said that the PAT had given awareness to the people about their rights during the 72-day sit-in and its impact would be visible in the next general elections. He said that the government had earlier offered to pay Rs 10 million to the family of each victim, which was turned down. He said that the PAT would pursue the cases against workers at every level.
He announced that ‘Hussain Medal’ would be awarded to the martyrs of the Model Town tragedy. He alleged that the government was protecting terrorists and terrorism could not end, suggesting solid legislation against it. He said that the masses would reject the old faces, feudal and tribal lords and traditional politicians in the next elections. He announced that the PAT would also take part in the local government elections. He said that the women who were arrested during the anti-government drive would be awarded medals, while those attended the sit-in for 15 days would be issued certificates bearing the signatures of Prof Dr Allama Tahirul Qadri. Earlier, he was warmly welcomed at Sangum Chowk. Riaz Khan Aliani, Saifullah Khan Sadozai and Dr Saad Baloch were also present.
