Lawyers to stay away from courts today

 PESHAWAR: The lawyer community on Monday announced to observe complete strike across the province to protest the killing of their colleague in Mardan district.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council gave the strike call to protest the killing of Zaib Alam, a lawyer in Mardan, and asked the all bar associations to observe complete boycott of courts.Unidentified gunmen gunned down Zaib Alam, who was also member of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party on Toru Nawan Killay Road in Mardan.

The Peshawar High Court Bar Association (PHCBA) on Monday also held a condolence meeting at the PHC Barroom. PHCBA president Arbab Muhammad Usman, general secretary Rahmanullah Khan and other cabinet members attended the meeting.

The PHC Bar Association through a resolution demanded the provincial government and police officers to immediately arrest the killers and bring them to justice. The PHCBA also announced complete boycott of the courts today to protest the incident.
