Call for Muslim unity

LAHORE

Religious leaders have said that the Islamic Military Alliance has been constituted for elimination of terrorism and extremism and the Saudi Arabia-led alliance does not have intentions to target any brotherly Islamic country.

The participants of the "Unity of Ummah Conference" held on Wednesday with Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi in the chair at Lahore Press Club stated that Islamic world needed to resolve their issues with unity, and alliance of Muslim Ummah for elimination terrorism and extremism was the need of the time.

A joint declaration issued on conclusion of the conference said that Arab-Islamic-US Congress held in Saudi Arabia would prove good for elimination of terrorism and extremism from the Muslim world. The declaration also condemned the terrorism attack in Manchester, the UK. The declaration also urged the government of Pakistan not to concede any foreign pressure on issue of Kulbhushan.

Addressing the conference, Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi stated Pakistan's foreign policy should be formed in accordance with the interests of the country. No one should be allowed to fan sectarian violence in Pakistan, he said, adding that Pakistan should play it's vital and key role in addressing differences among different Islamic countries. 

Allama Ibtisam Elahi Zaheer said religious leadership of Pakistan was united for elimination of terrorism and extremism. Pakistan Ulema Council Secretary General Maulana Abdul Hameed Watto said that Pakistan Ulema Council would continue its struggle against sectarian violence in Pakistan.
