Ghost employees
MIRPURKHAS: In a recent turn of events, it was disclosed that private men were working in place of real employees in the Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas. So much so, it was found that this practice was also rampant in sensitive departments. Reportedly, the real employees had hired private men at nominal wages to work in their place.
The Civil Hospital sources revealed that the said matter surfaced following recent transfers and postings in the concerned hospital which had opened a Pandora’s Box. According to reports, the newly-posted medical superintendent during his visit of different hospital wards had identified some ‘unknown’ people fearlessly working under the garb of health officials, who were in fact doing other businesses.
The absent employees were drawing huge salaries and had hired private men to work on their behalf. Sources told that this episode had initially surfaced from surgical and paediatric departments of hospital.
Sources, on request of anonymity, have revealed that the medical superintendent had avoided taking a stern action against those officials apparently fearing a backlash from workers’ union which might go against him.
When contacted by ‘The News’, Civil Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Muhammad Anwar Palari confirmed that the matter was in his knowledge and notices had been issued to such employees. “They were warned to join their duties and an AMS of the hospital has been directed to check and report immediately about such activities,” he said. However, he could not give satisfactory answer when asked that if only issuing warning letters without taking any stern and exemplary action against involved health officials was sufficient.
