Thar is in the grip of a drought, yet the authorities have failed to distribute the allocated funds for rehabilitation of the drought-hit people. Moreover, official statistics grossly underestimated the number of deaths of children which is much higher than the official figures.. One glaring reality the official statistics pointed out is that the majority of the dead were infants.
Natural calamities aside, there is another bleak aspect to the sorry state of Thar – the majority of doctors and paramedic staff are ghosts. The Sindh government is requested to take quick and strict action against ghost doctors and paramedics and focus on alleviating the suffering of the people of Thar.
