PML-N govt’s days are numbered, claims Kaira
LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party Punjab leadership on Monday predicted an early end to the PML-N government besides expressing the resolve to provide every possible relief to the poor after coming to power.
Speaking at a breakfast hosted by Ilyas Butt, a party activist from the walled city and later addressing a gathering at Lahore Press Club organised by the PPP Labour Bureau in connection with the Labour Day, Qamar Zaman Kaira, President PPP Central Punjab, said the days of the PML-N government are numbered and the rulers’ business connections with India would also be exposed if fair probe was done, he claimed.
He said that even judiciary had expressed its displeasure over the way rulers tampered the record whenever they feared their corruption was going to be exposed. He expressed the fear that like Metro and Orange Train, the rulers would also set ablaze the record of Panama and news leaks.
The PPP leader stated that news leaks was an issue that pertained to above Tariq Fatemi’s level, adding both memogate and news leaks were similar scandals but the PM’s House was involved in the latter, he alleged.
He stated that in PPP era when memogate scandal came to surface, suo motu actions were taken and its investigation was conducted by the Supreme Court Registrar and nation was waiting how the courts tackle the issue of news leaks. Kaira said the way the PM appeared before the court in memogate scandal, he as a PPP stalwart wanted to appear before it and party leadership must allow him.
Regarding PPP’s resolve to stage a protest camp at Minar-e-Pakistan on May 4, he alleged that the chief minister was threatening the PPP in the same way as Taliban did in 2013 but it would set up camp at all costs to lodge a protest over outages.
Coming hard on the government on its anti-worker policy, Kaira alleged that the PM was more concerned about his business in India rather than addressing the woes of poor people of Pakistan. He alleged that the government had completed his work to sell out national assets to its cronies in the form of gifts.
Kaira asserted that same law should prevail for the rich and the poor in the country, adding that it was none other than PPP which always strengthened the labour class, raised voice for its right but the rulers were totally anti-poor and anti-labour as they were constantly being exploited under the present regime, he added.
He said it was PPP which gave 12 percent share to labourers in the institutions they were working for. After coming to power, Kaira said PPP would provide social security to every citizen, including journalists and reinstate the terminated employees.
