Negligence of Metro Bus driver claims life of girl student

A young girl, Sumaira Ahmed, student of medical college was crushed to death due to negligence of the driver of Metro Bus bearing no. 61, at Rehmanabad stop on Friday morning.

According to details gathered from the witnesses, the accident occurred when the driver suddenly applied break while reaching Rehmanabad stop, as a result the ill fated girl fell out of the bus after colliding forcefully on the front wind screen of the bus which broke into pieces. As the bus was being operated in full speed the girl came under the wheels and lost her life on the spot. The staff of Rescue 1122 reached at the scene and shifted the body to District Headquarters Hospital.

As soon as the incident occurred, the bus driver tried to run away from the spot, however, with the efforts of other passengers he was nabbed and handed over to the New Town Police which reached after getting information. The accident was so severe that the head and face of the girl was smashed badly.

The New Town Police have registered a case against the driver of the Metro Bus and further investigations are being made.

However, when this correspondent tried to approach the chairman of the Metro Bus, Hanif Abbasi to get his views over the negligence of the driver, he did not respond the call. However, according to information gathered through different sources, an enquiry has been ordered to know the exact findings of the incident which claimed the life of the girl.
