Murad says everyone is raising ‘Go Nawaz Go’ slogan; Sindh being deprived of its share of natural gas, water; speaks at PPP’s sit-in near Mazar-e-Quaid

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said on Wednesday that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has to resign to save democracy and he (Nawaz Sharif) was not even eligible to become a member of the National Assembly.

The Sindh CM stated this on Wednesday as he addressed the participants of the large protest sit-in of Pakistan People's Party near the Mazar-e-Quaid under the agitation drive of the party against unjust and unfair policies of the federal government against Sindh and for forcing the prime minister to resign after the Supreme Court’s judgement in the Panama Papers’ case. Other senior leaders and lawmakers of the party also addressed the protest sit-in. Both participants and speakers of the protest sit-in repeatedly raised slogans against the federal rulers.

The CM said on the occasion that the PM would soon step down owing to peoples’ power. He said that activists of PPP were compelled to participate in the protest sit-in amid excruciating weather as the rulers had done nothing in the country. He especially mentioned the alleged step motherly treatment with Sindh as people in Sindh were being subjected to power loadshedding of up to 20 hours a day, while they were also being deprived of natural gas and water supply.

He said the federal govt had lost the confidence of the masses. “Now even the judiciary has termed them liar,” said the CM.

“On 16 October, 2016, I raised the slogan Go Nawaz Go and afterwards I came under criticism. Now everyone is raising this slogan,” said the CM.  He said that the protest sit-ins being organised under the direction of former president Asif Ali Zardari had sent out a clear message to the rest of the world that Sindh was not being fairly treated. He said that issues of the country would remain unresolved till the resignation of Nawaz Sharif. “I want to tell you that soon we will be successful,” said the CM.

President of PPP Sindh Chapter Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said that followers of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto would soon give tough time to the rulers and they were ready for this cause. He said that Nawaz Sharif was responsible for miseries of people of Sindh as they were being made to suffer power and water crisis. He said that Nawaz Sharif had defamed Pakistan in the entire world as now even judges didn’t consider him as a gentleman.

He said the PPP would continue its movement till the time Bilawal Bhutto Zardari assumed the position of prime minister. He said that PPP would organise a massive political rally in the Nishtar Park of Karachi on 01 May, 2017.   Senator Sherry Rehman said that certain people had been trying to paralyse institutions of the country as the same elements didn’t give any value to the national institutions and elected assemblies of the country. She said the PPP would let the country be subjected to endless loadshedding regime against the designs of rulers. She said that Nawaz Sharif had now been renamed as “Ineligible Sharif”. She said that the present government had spent Rs12 billion on newspaper advertisements just for self-promotion.  Senator Aijaz Dhamrah said that people had gathered in large number in front of Mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam in order to show their sentiments and anger against the rulers.
