LAHORE

Speakers at a seminar said that Lahore had become a complex mess of various social and legal problems because of continuous neglect by the rulers for eradicating lawlessness and menaces like thefts, dacoities, drug peddling and corruption among police.

The seminar hosted by Jamaat islami Lahore was presided over by JI Lahore ameer Zikrullah Mujahid while JI information secretary Amirul Azeem was the chief guest. Other speakers included Ziaudding Ansari, Malik Shahid Aslam, Engr Akhlaq Ahmad, Abdul Aziz Abid, Ch Mehmoodul Ahad and others. Zikrullah Mujahid said Lahore had been suffering serious problems of civic amenities, law and order, and governance but the rulers had been unmoved despite highlighting of various issues by the media. He enumerated various issues plaguing the city like, lawlessness, street and organised crime, unruly traffic, heaps of garbage and chocked sewerage, land grabbing, drug peddling and hooligans patronised by the police. Amirul Azeem said unless greasing the palms of police and relevant government officials, no application or request moved ahead for redressing public problems.
