Suspected killer of three Lyari boxers arrested after shootout
Police claimed arresting a notorious gangster in a shootout in Mowach Goth on Friday over charges of killing several people, including three Lyari boxers and women.
A Moachko Police Station team, including Sub Inspector (SI) Hayat Solangi, was patrolling Suparco Road in a mobile van when they flagged down three men riding a motorcycle. Instead of pulling up, the three opened fire at the mobile.
The police returned fire and arrested Arif, son of Imam Bux, with a TT pistol. Arif’s companions, Salman and Joji, fled, however. The arrested man was alleged to be involved in several murders and selling narcotics. He is affiliated with Lyari gang war and heads a gang called Bahadur PMT Group.
Arif, who has been declared proclaimed offender in various FIRs, was also allegedly involved in extorting people, engaging police in an encounter and killing Police Constable Naqibullah in Mowach Goth, a girl, Bushra, and a man, Ahmed Raza, in 2013.
Police suspected that the gangster also murdered three boxers, two of them brothers, in Mowach Goth in March 2014.
