Over 180,000 students to appear in inter exams
The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) on Friday announced the 2017 exam schedule for Higher Secondary School Certificate, parts I and II scheduled to be held in two phases from April 28.
BIEK Chairman Prof Inam Ahmed said the board’s preparation for the upcoming annual examinations has been completed but certain sections of the society were deliberately misleading people through false information.
He advised students to not panic and instead focus on their studies. He further stated that the BIKE would hold examinations in both morning and afternoon shifts in the first phase.
According to him, papers of Science Group (Pre-medical and Pre-engineering), General Science, Medical Technology, Home Economics would be held in the morning shift, whereas those appearing for the faculty of Commerce (Regular and Private) would give their papers in the second shift.
As many as 103,727 candidates are expected to appear in the morning, while 78,305 students are to appear in the afternoon shift, he said and added that overall 182,302 candidates would appear in the first phase of the annual exams.
The BIEK chairman further stated that for students appearing in the morning shift, 67 exam centres have been established for male candidates and 52 for females.
On the other hand, 60 examination centres have been established for male candidates appearing in the afternoon shift, and 45 for female candidates.
Prof Ahmed informed that admit cards for students of Commerce (Private), those appearing to improve their division, appearing for additional subjects have to be dispatched to their residences.
He also said that the board would send the admit cards of students of science (Pre-medical and Pre-engineering), General Science, Medical Technology, Home Economics and Commerce (Regular) to their relevant colleges by April 19.
Prof Ahmed added that the BIEK has sent a letter to KE to exempt exam centres from power cuts. He mentioned that senior professors would be given responsibilities to deliver examination papers to the examination centres on due time; they would also be a part of vigilance teams and committees.
