PTI didn’t retract allegation against General Kayani in 2014

ISLAMABAD: Though the PTI has withdrawn its latest allegation against former army chief General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani of rigging 2013 general elections, it remained stuck to its guns when it leveled absolutely the same allegation eight days before the 2014 D-Chowk sit-in on August 06, 2014.

There was a different military leadership at the GHQ in Rawalpindi at that time and there was no response or even a clarification against this continuous propaganda by the PTI that General Kayani had rigged 2013 general elections after “receiving instructions” from the US, India and Saudi Arabia to ensure victory of Sharifs of Raiwind.

On August 06, 2014, the PTI also used a member of its media team, the then deputy information secretary Fiazul Hasan Chohan, to make this crucially important statement.

The PTI never ever contradicted the same as it was made to retract publicly this time. The News reported on August 07, 2014 that PTI chief Imran Khan had same views about the role of former army chief and discussed the same during party meetings.

The PTI’ deputy information secretary had even explained ‘complete strategy’ adopted by the PML-N and General Kayani to rig 2013 elections during that August 2014 interview.

He had stated that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Chaudhry Nisar had been meeting Gen (R) Kayani in the late hours of the night, and, as a result, the mandate was gifted to Nawaz Sharif.

For the media persons with whom Imran had shared his thoughts, PTI’s deputy information secretary’s allegations were a reflection of what PTI chief thinks and says in party meetings. After Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and judiciary, Jang Group and a brigadier of Military Intelligence, foreign powers, army chief and many more were blamed for the PTI defeat in the general elections.

Interestingly, Gen (R) Kayani was accused at a time when he no longer holds the position of the COAS.Imran Khan had pointed his gun at the former chief justice only when Iftikhar Chaudhry had relinquished the charge of his office.

The PTI chief had even accused legendary characters like Justice Fakharuddin G Ebrahim of rigging 2013 elections.

Ironically, the PTI or its chief could never come up with any evidence and support of their rigging allegations and a high level Supreme Court commission had also rejected all PTI allegations on account of rigging.
