Belarussian envoy visits RCCI
Rawalpindi
There are high prospects for joint ventures in agriculture, agro-based industries, pharmaceutical and light engineering, machinery manufacturing, oil and gas sectors between Pakistan and Belarus.
The two countries are enjoying good diplomatic and economic relations. This was stated by Belarus Ambassador Andrei Ermolovich during his meeting with President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) Raja Amer Iqbal here on Tuesday.
"There is a huge untapped potential in industrial, agricultural, textile, pharmaceutical and other sectors and the two countries can benefit from it," Ermolovich said. He said Belarus Minister for Industries along with 20 member trade delegation will visit Pakistan next month. The delegation will also visit RCCI on May 18, he added. The prime objective of this visit was to hold business to business meetings and match making.
Ermolovich also highlighted the importance of exchange of trade delegations and said the business community of Pakistan should actively participate in trade exhibitions and fairs being organised in Belarus. He appreciated the role of RCCI in promoting business activities in the region.
President RCCI Raja Amer Iqbal in his welcome address said that the country’s economy offered great potential to Belarus investors for joint ventures and investment.
He said Belarus investors should focus on energy, information technology, agriculture, pharmaceutical, marble, gem and jewelry and other sectors in Pakistan to reap lucrative returns. Belarus can serve as a gateway for Pakistani trades towards Eastern Europe, he added.
He assured full cooperation and assistance in organizing business to business meetings at the chamber premises. Raja Amer Iqbal also gave a brief summary of RCCI current and upcoming events.
