Centre for advanced studies set up at UET in  Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Peshawar, with the financial assistance of the USAID, has established a centre for advanced studies in energy sector.

A team of experts and media professionals paid a visit to the centre, which is named as ‘US-Pakistan Centre for Advanced Studies in Engineering. University of Engineering and Technology Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Noor Mohammad, director of the centre
Arshad Nafees and technical advisor Ahmad Sohail Khan were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Noor Mohammad said the project has been launched with an amount of Rs20 million dollars. The aim of the centre was to promote academic excellence and research in the field of energy and find out workable solution for doing away with the energy crisis in the country.

He said that apart from energy, research would be made in the center over food and agriculture. Arshad Nafees said they have established good relationship with the academia and courses were being prepared after consultation with Industry. He said there was great potential in the province for overcoming energy crisis.
