Sindh Amateur Golf tees off today at KGC

KARACHI: The three-day 17th Sindh Amateur Golf Championship will explode into action today here at the well-manicured course of the Karachi Golf Club (KGC) on Friday (today) with some of the country’s best golfers vying for top honours.

Most of Pakistan top amateur golfers including several players from upcountry will feature in the prestigious championship to be hosted by the Sindh Golf Association (SGA).

Zobaib Asif of DHA will be defending his title in the amateurs’ contest which will be played over 54 holes. He will face a host of formidable challengers including Taimur Khan, Muhammad Rehman, Ahmed Baig and Waseem Rana. The amateurs’ event will be participated by 44 players.

Omar Bangash will be defending his seniors’ title at the Sindh Amateurs. Other leading title contenders in the seniors’ event include Sohail K. Rana, Omar Farooq, Khalid Siddiqui, Col Mansoor Akram, Brig Ayaz Peer, Arshad I.A Khan, Ahmed Jameel Siddiqui and President SGA Asad I.A Khan. A total of 32 players will feature in the seniors’ event.

A total of 26 juniors will compete in the two age-group events featuring boys of U17 and under-17 categories. The juniors will play 36 holes on Friday and Saturday. The ladies event will also be played over 36 holes.
