174 search, strike operations carried out in two months
PESHAWAR: As many as 174 search and strike operations were carried out in the provincial capital during the last two months, an official said on Friday. Senior superintendent of police operations, Peshawar, Sajjad Khan, told reporters that 748 proclaimed offenders, 1339 criminals, drug sellers and 1685 suspects were rounded up in operations during the period.
The official added that 877 of those violating the tenant information act were also arrested during the two months. "As many as 445 different kinds of weapons, 55 kilograms of hashish, seven kilograms of heroin and 107 bottles of liquor were also seized in these actions," said Sajjad Khan.
The SSP operations said that a number of educational institutions and other buildings were inspected during the period and the local police as well as management of these buildings were guided how to further improve security. "Mock security exercises were also carried out in different areas to keep the cops alert in case of any untoward incident," said the official.
