The Lahore High Court Chief Justice and Supreme Court Bar Association paid tribute to late Touqeer Ghuman, reporter of a TV channel, by holding condolence references.
Touqeer Ghuman (43), court reporter with Dawn News, died on Sunday due to cardiac arrest. He is survived by his two minors and a widow. His Qul were held at his residence, 163-E-III, Mukhtar Street, Mohalla Noor, Islam Park, Ichhra, on Monday.
LHC Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah invited court journalists and expressed his grief over his death saying that he was very active in performing his duties. The CJ said he remained prominent during his professional duties. He said he wanted to participate in his funeral prayers but could not due to security reasons. He asked about his children and any financial benefits given by journalist bodies, including Lahore Press Club, Punjab Union of Journalists and Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists to the bereaved families. The participants prayed for the departed soul and courage for his family members. In the reference organised by SCBA, its secretary Aftab Ahmed Bajwa, remembering Ghuman, said he was a professional journalist busy in search of news. Other members of the SCBA also participated in the reference and paid tribute to Ghuman. They said he was a man having pain for the needy and tried to highlight their problems through his journalistic ability.
