PAT for operation against politicians

LAHORE
Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) president Dr Raheeq Ahmed Abbasi Saturday said the need of the hour is that Zarb-e-Azb should be started against political parties the same way as it is underway in tribal areas.
Addressing a press conference along with other allies, Dr Raheeq said seminaries which are not involved in terrorism should not be afraid of inspection, saying that “we will neither allow them to flourish and implement their brand of Islam, and nor the Punjab government to play the role of a double agent”.
He demanded the government immediately register all seminaries and take action against those who fail to do get registered.
He said action is vital against those who are funding these seminaries.
He urged the government to eliminate terrorists who are hiding in its ranks like Tauqeer Shah who was promoted to grade 22 and appointed as ambassador in the WTO instead of being held responsible for killing 14 innocent people in the Model Town incident.
He said the PAT would write to WTO about Tauqeer’s role in the Model Town massacre. He said the PAT would announce its new strategy about Model Town incident after few days.
He said instead of bringing an ordinance the Punjab government should have bought a bill in Punjab Assembly for countering terrorism. He said the Rawalpindi suicide bombing proved that the government has done nothing for the safety of citizens and no religious ceremony or place is safe. He said the government should resign and let someone else rule if it cannot protect the people.
PAT allies, including Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen (MWM) Secretary Allama Nasir Sherazi, Allama Imdad Ullah Qadri, Sunni Ittehad Council Mufti Mohammed Karim, Maulana Irshad Qadri, Allama Imtiaz Kazmi, Allama Saeed Ahmed Farooqui, Maulana Naeem Javeed Noori, Ghulam Asghar Siddique, Mir Asif Akber and others were also present.
They said the seminaries aiding terrorism should be dealt with an iron hand and exemplary punishment should be awarded to them. They said by getting photographed with those who support suicide attacks, the Punjab government has given the impression that it is the political wing of these terrorist outfits.
