LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami’s spokesman Amirul Azeem has expressed surprise over the press conference of Interior Minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan and said instead of giving an answer on behalf of the interior ministry against the questions raised by the Quetta killing inquiry commission report, the minister had himself raised a question.
In a statement on Saturday, the JI spokesman said the meeting referred to by the interior minter had taken place on the request of the minister himself. He said the government had been contacting Allama Muhammad Ahmed Ludhianvi as and when it desired for its own reasons and also requested for his party’s vote.
He added that Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah had not only been personally attending public meetings of Maulana Ludhianvi but also regularly paying visits to him.
With a view to putting the record straight, the JI spokesman said the main objective of the meeting referred to by the interior minister had been to apprise him ( the minister) of the excesses being committed in removing loudspeakers from mosques, uncalled for arrests of Ulema, Khatib and religious parties workers in connection with the NAP.
He said the interior minister had himself invited the Difa-e -Pakistan Council delegation and at the meeting, the interior minister had expressed his resolve that the law enforcement bodies and agencies would not be allowed to bring into disrepute the NAP and that grievances of Ulema would be redressed.
