30,000 cops to protect Eid Milad processions in province
The Sindh chief minister directed the law-enforcement agencies on Saturday to ensure strict security arrangements for the protection of processions and rallies being organised across the province in connection with the Eid Milad-un-Nabi on December 12 (12th Rabiul Awwal).
Murad Ali Shah was chairing a meeting at the Chief Minister’s House to review the law and order situation in the province in view of the Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
The IGP told the participants of the meeting that 1,028 rallies and processions would be organised across the province on 12th Rabiul Awwal. Of them, 400 are being organised in Karachi, 361 in Hyderabad, 34 in Mirpurkhas, 20 in Sukkur, and 94 rallies in Larkana.
The IGP added that 30,000 police personnel would be deputed across the province for their security. Home secretary Shakeel Mangnejo informed the participants of the meeting that army would remain alert as backup on 12th Rabiul Awwal.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister directed the officials concerned that both police and Rangers should ensure foolproof security all over the province. He added that police and Rangers should maintain coordination and remain contact with each other in this connection. Shah directed the IGP that security measures should taken for securing the premises of Faizan-e-Madina, a major religious seminary in Karachi
He also asked Karachi commissioner to contact the relevant authorities so that there were no power outages on Eid Milad-un-Nabi. He said that all administrative measures needed should be taken for removing encroachments and hurdles for easing the movement of vehicular traffic along the routes of processions and rallies.
CM meets AJK PM
Shah met Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan at the Chief Minister’s House and they discussed issues of mutual interest. The chief minister briefed the AJK prime minister about the ongoing and new development projects in the province. He said special attention was being given to the improvement of road networks and communication systems in the province.
