‘Airtech’ aims to highlight renewable energy solutions and solving crisis

The awareness programme at the Air University (AU) has specially been designed to increase the awareness regarding the role of energy in creating a balance in the energy mix of this modern era. The basic aim of Airtech is to highlight the potential of renewable energy solutions and solving the energy crisis and provide a basic learning regarding technology and its implementation.

On the second day, participants had to make gliders, basically Balsa Wood Glider, they were given two hours to make their gliders. Then they had a test flight one by one, the glider with the best endurance would win.

In all, 22 teams with 49 participants from different universities like Urdu, NUST, Comsats, UET, IST and AU participated in the event. After two test flights winners were decided. A team from COMSATS led by Umar Lodhi won the event by having a time of 8.14 seconds in the flight and the prize money. A team from AU led by Sabih were the runners up.

Vice Chancellor Air University AVM (r) Faaiz Aamir and other respectable HoDs & faculty members were there to watch and appreciate the test flights too.

Now in the 21st century we have moved into the digital age , age of micromachines, AU is also playing its part in this technological revolution,  AirMic is a sub event of AirTech’16 being held at AU main campus in which nine different teams from Air University, Comsats University Abbotabad and Quaid-i-Azam University are participated.

It was organised by Electrical department, and headed by Umer Farooq and Fakhar Hussain, Deputy heads were Syed Akmal Raza and Hamza Waheed. Dr. Muhammad Nouman from Dr. AQ Khan Research Laboratories, Kahuta, honoured the occasion as a judge. After the evaluation of result Team AU consisting of Umair and Shoaib defeated others by a close margin.

Air Speed is event of Speed wiring is the sub event, Ahmed Jamal and Shahkar Khan headed the event. Awais Muneer, Usman ul Haq and Raayan Hassan were assistants. Dr Anwar Ali Khan from Kahuta Research laboratories and Sir Mughees Ahmed from AU honored AirTech by judging “Air Speed”. A total of 22 teams participated in the event from UET, Fasialabad, Wah Engineering College, AU Multan and Air University, Islamabad Campus.

Air Rocket is an event related to aerodynamic designing and dealing with static and dynamic forces that drives a rocket. This event was managed by Mechanical department. Its venues were IAA front lawn and FMC lawn.

It was headed by Faisal Iqbal and M Haris Tahir. Deputy heads were Umer Farooq and Akif Anwar. 13 different teams participated in this event from International Islamic University, IST, NUST, Risalpur, UET fsb. , Javed Benchmark College, FAST-Chiniot Campus, AU and Wah Engineering College. Usman Ghani, a mechanical department senior and Saba Arif honoured the event by their presence as judges. The objective of ‘AirBridge’ competition is to design, construct and test structurally most efficient model truss bridge according to the provided materials.
