UC-7 residents lack basic amenities
Islamabad: The residents of UC-7 Pind Begowal is anxiously yearning to take benefits from the local bodies system because at the moment they lack most of the basic amenities of life and their grievances cannot be addressed unless required funds are provided by Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI).
Subedar (r) Zafar Iqbal, a resident of Pind Begowal, said the poor condition of Simli Dam Road is creating problems for the commuters but no one is giving any attention to this grave issue, adding "There is no playground for children and youngsters and even family members cannot go for recreation due to absence of proper parks in the area."
Another resident, Khurram Shahzad, said the technical college having 232-kanal of land was set up in the area in 1986, but now it is not functional and its building is presenting a look of a 'ghost house'.
"If the technical college gets functional then the local people would be able to get technical education and earn livelihood for their families," he said. Abdul Ghaffar said drinking water is not being provided to the local people from the Simli Dam despite the fact that a 4,000-foot long pipeline passes through Pind Begowal and providing water to people of other areas. Nighat Yaseen, a social worker, said there is no water filtration plant in the area due to which the people are becoming victim of water-borne diseases.
"No doctor is available in basic health unit so the patients have to travel to other areas for their medical treatment," she said. Chairman of UC-7 Raja Qaiser said the government departments are not providing due help due to which they are carrying out the development work on self-help basis.
