PAKISTAN Awami Tehreek (PAT) President Dr Raheeq Abbasi welcomed the 21st constitutional amendment for establishing the military courts for speedy trial of terrorists and reminded that Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri was the first proponent of military courts in his 14-point agenda for eradication of extremism.
Talking to the media on Tuesday, he said military courts were the need of the hour, adding if anti-terrorism courts had performed judiciously and without any political vendetta, the military courts would have not been required. He said 85% terrorists in Punjab and 95% in Sindh got away without conviction.
Abbasi said parliamentary parties that supported the constitutional amendment had rendered national service and needed not spoil their duty by giving the apologetic remarks. He further said terrorism was Pakistan’s core issue and more steps were required to root it out completely. —Correspondent
