Sindh govt to appeal in SC against SHC decision
KARACHI: The Sindh government was given a go-ahead as a matter of principle on Friday to file an appeal in the Supreme Court against the recent judgement of the Sindh High Court (SHC), which declared the appointment of Sindh chief minister’s law adviser as null and void.
The decision to this effect was reached as Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah met Co-chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari in Dubai. Murtaza Wahab, who has recently been stripped of his position of law adviser to the CM, was also present in this meeting.
Affairs related to the PPP, some matters of provincial government in Sindh, and events related to the upcoming foundation day anniversary of PPP in Lahore on November 30 were discussed in the meeting held in Dubai.
PPP co-chairman recommended constitution of a panel of senior lawyers associated with the PPP to contest the appeal to be filed in the Supreme Court against the decision of the Sindh High Court regarding the appointment of advisers and special assistants to the CM.
The proposed panel of forum would include senior advocates Farooq H Naek, Aitzaz Ahsan and Lateef Khosa, who would plead the Sindh government’s appeal.
