DBA, FCCI condemn Quetta carnage
From Our Correspondent
FAISALABAD: The District Bar Association members on Wednesday observed a complete strike against the Quetta carnage.
No lawyer appeared before the courts to register the protest against the tragedy. The lawyers expressed sympathy with the victims and their families of this terrorist attack, which claimed 61 lives. Meanwhile, DBA president Ch Nazir Ahmad and secretary Azhar Hanif in a joint statement strongly condemned the brutality of the terrorists in Quetta and urged upon the government to lodge a strong protest against the incident. They also urged upon the Pakistani government to raise this issue in the UNO. Meanwhile, Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) president Muhammad Saeed Sheikh has condemned the dastardly attack on the Quetta Police Training Centre in which more than 61 innocent Jawans were reportedly martyred.
In a statement issued here, the FCCI president said that Pakistan was passing through a critical stage as the Pak Army was about to crush terrorists. He said that the terrorists had not only damaged our economy but had also created a sense of insecurity among the masses. He said that the Pak Army was busy Zarb-e-Azb, which had already broken the networking of all terrorist organisations and now steps were underway to round up their facilitators and financers. It was due to the sacrifices of our Jawans that terrorists were forced to take refuge in the neighboring countries, he added. He said that the Pak Army had already flushed out all terrorists from the Pakistani soil. He said that although the Pak Army had almost crushed terrorists but few foreign based terrorists were now creating unrest in Pakistan with ulterior motives to sabotage our fast growing economy. The actual target was actually CPEC and Gawadar Port, he maintained. He said that the government must expedite work on these projects for their early completion. FCCI SVP Rana Sikandar-e-Azam said that enemies of peace would be met with iron hand as our nation was on one page on this issue of terrorism. FCCI VP Engineer Ahmed Hassan also expressed deep concern over the massive loss of human lives in war against terror. He also condoled with the bereaved families and said that the government must take full responsibility of families of the martyred Jawans. The office-bearers of Pakistan Yarn Merchants Association, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, Sh Muhammad Nadeem, Mian Waqar Nasir and Shahid Akram also condemned the Quetta carnage and demanded the government constitute a special cell to protect schools, colleges, bar associations and other vital places in Balochistan and especially in Quetta. They alleged that foreign agencies were involved in terrorist attacks in Peshawar, Quetta and other cities.
