Col Ghulam Rasool died

Islamabad: Lieutenant Colonel (r) Ghulam Rasool, AEC, died on Wednesday at CMH here, after protracted illness.

He was father-in-law of Professor Dr. Syed Abdul Siraj, dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and chairman, Department of Mass Communication, Allama Iqbal Open University.

Lieutenant Colonel (r) Ghulam Rasool joined Army Educational Corps (AEC) in 1957 after doing his M.Sc in Mathematics from University of the Punjab, and retired in 1983. He had also served as Director Education in A.Q. Khan Research Laboratory. He was also running Pakistan Quality Education School in Rawalpindi.

He left behind two sons Engineer Sohail and Engineer Pervaiz, and two daughters. One of his daughter Shagufta Siraj is serving as professor at English Department of AIOU. The second daughter Farhat Maqbool, retired as principal of Govt College for Girls, Abid Majeed Road, her husband Major General (r) Dr. Maqbool Ahmed served in the Army Medical Corps.

His sister Professor Dr. Asghari Maqsood was a physicist at Quaid-i-Azam University.

His funeral will take place today (Thursday) at Army Graveyard, Racecourse, Rawalpindi, at 2 p.m.

'Qul' for the departed soul will be held tomorrow (Friday) at House no. 61, Street 8, Valley Road, Rawalpindi at 2 p.m. and 'dua' will be offered at 5 p.m.
