Weird messages from space are ‘probably’ aliens, astronomers say

CALIFORNIA: Weird messages have been coming from deep space and it’s ‘probably’ aliens, scientists believe. A tiny set of stars have been closely monitored and a number of them have been behaving pretty strangely.

The astronomers have reported finding specific modulations in 234 of the 2.5 million stars studied, and there’s no explanation for what it could be. So they’ve concluded it must be from aliens trying to make contact

Two scientists from Laval University in Quebec, EF Borra and E Trottier, wrote: ‘We find that the detected signals have exactly the shape of an extraterrestrial intelligence (ETI) signal. ‘The fact that they are only found in a very small fraction of stars within a narrow spectral range centred near the spectral type of the sun is also in agreement with the ETI hypothesis.’

But they add further work is needed to be done to confirm this, which they’ll basically do by listening to the modulations using different types of equipment. The newspaper has for months been keeping a running interactive tally of Trump’s Twitter attacks, but Monday appears to be the first time it was published in print form.
