Walk held in Bara to raise awareness about polio
BARA: The political administration and health officials on Monday arranged a walk in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency to create awareness about polio.
Political Tehsildar of Bara Shamsul Islam and Dr Wazir Akbar led the walk. It started from Kohi Sher Haider College and ended at Kohi Chowk. A number tribesmen, elders, officials and civil society members attended the walk. Speaking on the occasion, Shamsul Islam said that Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria were still striving for eradicating polio.
The political tehsildar added political administration with help of the Health Department worked hard to eradicate polio. He said a special anti-polio campaign was carried out in Bara to vaccinate children against the crippling disease. The official maintained the local administration had provided security to polio workers in the far-flung areas in Khyber Agency.
Dr Wazir Akbar stated that the special anti-polio campaigns would be planned to vaccinate the missed children. He said 750 teams had been constituted to vaccinate 200,000 children in three tehsils of Khyber Agency.
