The Anti-Violent Crime Cell with the assistance of the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee rescued an abducted child on Friday and arrested a gang of kidnappers comprising two men and two women.
Four-year-old Tayyab, son of Rab Nawaz, was kidnapped on October 17 while he was playing outside his house in the Jackson police remit.
The family had publicised the missing of the child in newspapers of October 18 and on October 19, they had received calls from different numbers claiming to be in possession of the child and demanding ransom for his release.
The family approached police and the CPLC for assistance. Joint teams of the CPLC and the AVCC were formed to rescue the child.
The family was receiving calls from different people using different numbers which made it difficult for the investigation teams to filter out the genuine kidnapper.
With the assistance of technical details, the teams managed to trace the hideout of the kidnappers and raided a house in Gulshan-e-Maymar. There they found Tayyab and arrested three kidnappers, Salman, Shehreyar and Rukhsana.
The leader of the gang, Fauzia, was later arrested in Shirin Jinnah Colony. An FIR was lodged at the Jackson police station.
