Any threat to Pak security unacceptable: Saudi Arabia

RAWALPINDI: Saudi Arabia on Wednesday said that any threat to Pakistan’s security and stability was unacceptable as the Saudi leadership reiterated its commitment to the territorial integrity and solidarity of the brotherly country.
The commitment was expressed as Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif called on Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Muhammad bin Naif bin Abdulaziz and Defence Minister Mohammad bin Salman Al Saud on Wednesday.
General Raheel Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the safety and protection of the Harmain-al-Sharifain and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). They discussed matters of mutual interest, bilateral, defence and security cooperation.
Both the sides emphasised the need to join hands to eliminate the menace of terrorism and reinvigorate the mechanism to roll back extremism.The leaders agreed that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia shared a great history of cordial relations, a deep spirit of brotherhood and enduring partnership, the Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa tweeted on the social media.
Both the sides acknowledged Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were vital players in regional stability with significant responsibility towards the Muslim Ummah.The Saudi king and crown prince assured the COAS that any threat to Pakistan’s integrity was unacceptable for them and they would support peace and stability in Pakistan.
The king, crown prince and defence minister said that they held Pakistan and the Pakistan Army in high esteem and also appreciated the achievements of Pak Army in the Operation Zarb-e-Azb.
The COAS appreciated the growing counter-terrorism cooperation, intelligence sharing, limiting space of terrorists and extremists in all the domains, including choking the flow of funding to terrorist outfits.
