Cylinder blast toll rises to nine as five more die

LAHORE

Five more victims of gas cylinder blast which had occurred four days back at  Yousaf Park, Shahdara, died on Friday.

The victims of  were identified as Saeed, 45, Muhammad Saleem, 24, Tassawar, 40, Bilal, 28, and Ejaz, 14. Four victims had already expired a day back. It was reported that a gas cylinder had exploded during refilling at Yousaf Park four days back in which at least 18 people were injured. The death toll from the tragedy has risen to nine, Shahdara police said.

arrested: Price Control Magistrates of City District Government Lahore (CDGL) arrested 82 profiteers during their drive against price hike on Friday.

Officials said price control magistrates checked 766 places, challaned 29 shopkeepers and fined them Rs 61,600. The magistrates also arrested 82 profiteers and sent 13 of them to jail while cases were registered against 47 shopkeepers.

suicide: A 45-year-old woman committed suicide by taking poisonous pills in the Manawan area on Friday. The deceased was identified as Naseem of Manawan. Police said she apparently ended her life over a domestic issue. The body has been removed to morgue.

electrocuted: A 28-year-old man was electrocuted while repairing electrical wires in a school at Iqbal Town on Friday.

The deceased, identified as Bilal, a resident of Samanabad, was an electrician. On the day of incident, he was replacing faulty electricity wires in a school at Iqbal Town when he suffered severe electric shocks, resulting in his death. Police have removed the body to morgue.

Body found: A 40-year-old man was found dead in the Gawalmandi police area on Friday. Police claimed that the man, yet to be identified, was an addict who might have died of an overdose of drugs. Police have removed to the body to morgue.

Meanwhile, a 75-year-old man expired in a hospital, a day after he was found lying unconscious in the Data Darbar police jurisdiction. Police said that the man, yet to be identified, might have died of some medical complications. The body has been shifted to morgue.
