FC foils sabotage bid in Dera Bugti

DERA MURAD JAMALI: Frontier Corps (FC) foiled a sabotage bid and recovered a large quantity of ammunition in Sangsela area of Dera Bugti on Thursday.According to FC spokesman acting on a tip off, FC personnel carried out combing operation in the area and seized 60 kg improvised explosive devices (IED), 3 detonator batteries, 2 shell of rockets, 6 fuses and 40 yards of wires. FC cordoned off the entire area and started search to trace out the suspects.

 

Mutilated body of missing youth found

GHALLANAI: A disfigured body of a 16-year-old boy, who went missing three days ago, was recovered from a pit in the hills of Babikhel area in Haleemzai tehsil, official sources said on Thursday. The sources said that local people informed the political administration after finding the body in a canyon in the hills of Babikhel. They said the deceased was identified as Iftikhar, son of Niamatullah. The deceased was a 7th grade student and had been missing since September 26.The sources added that the body was shifted to a local hospital for autopsy and identification. The relatives were informed after the body was identified.

 

UK high commissioner calls on Rehman Malik

ISLAMABAD: United Kingdom High Commissioner in Pakistan, Thomas Drew, Thursday called on Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control Senator A. Rehman Malik at his residence here. Both discussed bilateral relations and hoped that relations between two countries will enhance by each day, said a press release issued here.

 

Pre-arrest bail of accused in Fahad murder case rejected

ISLAMABAD: An Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) of Islamabad Thursday dismissed a plea seeking extension in interim bail of accused Hashim Khan in Barrister Fahad Malik murder case. The ATC Judge announced the verdict that was reserved by the court on Wednesday.

The police arrested the accused from outside the court after the dismissal of his pre arrest bail. During the last proceeding the counsel of the accused argued before the court that his client was being made part of investigation due to his friendship with the main accused of the case Nouman Khokhar.

 

Tufail Jatt notified as returned candidate from NA-162

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has notified the name of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)candidate Chaudhry Muhammad Tufail Jatt as returned candidate from NA-162 Sahiwal III as a result of the recent by-elections.According to a notification issued here Chaudhary Muhammad Tufail, son of Wali Muhammad, resident of house no 238, Block No 2, Chichawatni, District Sahiwal, has been declared successful in recently held by elections.Muhammad Tufail Jatt on Monday won by polls of NA-162 Chichawatni, by defeating Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s candidate Rai Murtaza Iqbal.The seat fell vacant after disqualification of PTI’s MNA Rai Hassan Nawaz Khan.

 

Hospitals put on alert

LAHORE: The Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department, Punjab, has issued instructions to all the teaching hospitals of Lahore to remain high alert on Friday (today) and make all arrangements to cater to any emergency situation in connection with the public gathering.According to the notification issued here on Thursday, the administrations of all the hospitals has been asked to ensure appropriate arrangements in medical as well as surgical emergency to provide adequate medical cover to the patients.
