Murad says law and order situation in Karachi has improved considerably in recent months
The Sindh chief minister said on Saturday that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement had disowned its founder and the law and order situation in Karachi had considerably improved in recent months.
Addressing a press conference in Sukkur, Murad Ali Shah said his government was giving special attention to development projects including energy schemes in the province but to achieve these objectives funds were needed for which the province was negotatiing with the Centre for the payment of dues.
He said corrupt officers would not be spared.
Tharparkar
The chief minister said the provincial government was unnecessarily being criticised over the issue of Tharparkar even though sufficient health facilities had been provided in the district.
“The Sindh government had installed 400 reverse osmosis plants in Tharparkar. Each plant is supplying drinking water to 10,000 people,” he added.
Shah said quality healthcare facilities had been provided at the Mithi district headquarters hospital with air-conditioned rooms and 24 incubators which were not even available in such a large number at a single medical facility in Karachi.
Besides, he added, said mobile dispensaries had also been provided while 49 basic health units were set up which were providing health facilities round the clock.
Sukkur
The chief minister said he had not arrived in Sukkur to dismiss officers but warned that corruption would not be tolerated as he wanted a better work environment.
He added that local bodies representatives would be given their due funds so that they could better serve the people.
“Sukkur is a beautiful city and steps will be taken to enhance its beauty,” he added.
Shah said he would
visit more places in the
city to learn about the problems being faced by the citizens.
The chief minister was accompanied by the opposition leader in NA Khursheed Ahmed Shah, provincial transport minister Nasir Hussain Shah, and provincial education minister Sindh Jam Mehtab Dahar.
Later, the chief minister inaugurated the Enterprise Resource Planning project of the Sukkur Institute of Business Administration and its Campus-II.
