ECP decides to implement code of conduct

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to implement strictly the code of conduct during the local bodies (LB) elections in Punjab and Sindh.
The chief secretaries and Inspectors General of Police (IGPs) of both the provinces have been summoned today (Monday) in this regard.
According to the sources of the ECP, the chief secretaries and IGPs will meet the secretary of Election Commission of Pakistan. During the meeting, both the chief secretaries and IGPs will be directed to ensure implementation of code of conduct in local bodies elections in their respective provinces.
Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan issued the notification for the local bodies election schedule in Sindh and Punjab. The first phase of the local bodies election will be on 31 October while candidates can file nomination papers from 7-11 September. The scrutiny for nomination papers will take place from 12-17 September and appeals can be filed on 24 September.
The final list will be issued on October 2 and the candidates can withdraw their nominations prior to this date.
