Street crimes continued in the city on Tuesday as two people were killed and another injured in two separate robbery incidents.
In the first incident, three robbers broke into an eatery in Bin Qasim police limits and shot and injured two people, 25-year-old Wajid and Abdul Hannan, who tried to put up resistance.
Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition where Wajid passed away during treatment.
Similarly, 32-year-old Saim Raza suffered fatal bullet injuries when he tried to resist a mugging bid near an imambargah in Korangi No 3, within Awami Colony police limits. He was taken to the JPMC for treatment but succumbed to his wounds.
‘Woman kills child, self’
A 22-year-old mother on Tuesday allegedly killed her daughter and later committed suicide, apparently after she had a fight with her husband, inside their Ahmed Manzil residence.According to SHO Soldier Bazar Irshad Somroo, Hina Mubarak was found hanged in his room in flat No-5 of the Ahmed Manzil situated near Nishtar Park when her husband, Pervaz, returned to home in the evening. His minor daughter, four-year-old daughter Shan-e-Zehra, was also found strangulated to death.
The bodies were taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi, where the mother and the daughter were pronounced dead on arrival.
The police claimed they had detained Parvaz, an employee of a local bank, and were investigating his involvement in the case.
SHO Irshad Somroo told The News that the couple had married four years ago.
This is the second incident of its nature in the past two days as earlier on Sunday, a 22-year-old mother reportedly killed her daughter and later committed suicide apparently after she had a fight with her husband, inside their Akhter Colony residence.
According to SHO Mehmoodabad Sarwar Commando, Kaneez Fatima, following a quarrel with her husband, Mansoor, a police constable, locked herself and their three-year-old daughter, Aliza, inside a room. The woman was said to have shot the daughter and later committed suicide by shooting herself, the police added.
Their bodies were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical centre for medico-legal formalities.
