Cellphone service to be suspended on 14 Aug
Islamabad
Cellphones and other telecom devices will fall silent in Islamabad on the August 14 Independence Day as a precautionary measure against possible terrorist attacks.
According to an official in the know, the mobile phone and Internet services will remain suspended from 6a.m. to 12p.m. in Islamabad on Sunday for security reasons.
He said the people would be formally informed about the service suspension to prevent them from trouble, especially in case of emergency. Meanwhile, preparations are in full swing for the Independence Day celebrations.
Houses, streets and bazaars are being decorated with buntings, banners and national flags, while special stalls have been put up in markets and bazaars to sell national flags, green caps, badges, stickers, posters, sprinklers and firecrackers.
Political, educational, social and literary organisations have planned to hold special functions to mark the day.
