Karachi
The Pakistan People’s Party on Friday officially announced that it would be participating in the upcoming by-election to the Sindh Assembly constituency, PS-127, scheduled to be held on September 8.
After a meeting of the PPP’s Sindh coordination committee chaired by parliamentary affairs minister Nisar Khuhro on Friday, it was also announced that Murtaza Baloch would be the PPP’s nominated candidate for PS-127, a constituency that includes the city’s Malir area.
As per details, the provincial minister directed the meeting attendees to ensure that special committees tasked to manage the preparations for the by-polls were constituted within the next three days.
The meeting resolved that the PPP’s District Malir chapter would hold a general body meeting on August 8 (Monday) to finalise preparations for the upcoming by-polls. All PPP activists of District Malir have been urged to participate in the general body meeting and to dedicate serious efforts towards making this particular campaign a success.
The PS-127 seat fell vacant when, earlier this year, the constituency’s MPA Ashfaq Mangi tendered his resignation after quitting his party, Muttahida Qaumi Movement, to join the Mustafa Kamal-led Pak Sarzameen Party.
LG polls
The PPP’s candidate for the city’s mayor slot, Karamullah Waqasi, will submit his nomination papers for the August 8 mayoral polls at 12 noon on Saturday (today) at the office of the district returning officer.
