Govt asked to take political parties into confidence over Fata reforms
BARA: The Khyber Political Alliance has asked the government to ensure that political parties are taken into confidence over the Fata reforms.
Addressing a meeting in Khyber Killay, members of the Khyber Political Alliance, which is part of the Fata Political Alliance, said the tribal people were deceived in the name of Fata reforms. Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) chief for Khyber Agency Shah Faisal Afridi, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) president Hazrat Wali Afridi, Khyber Union president Hashim Khan Afridi and others spoke on the occasion.
The speakers said that Fata had already suffered due to militancy. They called for abolition of the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) and an extension of Pakistan’s Constitution to Fata.They said the tribal people and political parties should be taken into confidence before introducing the Fata reforms.
The speakers demanded the government to provide compensation to the internally displaced persons who have returned to their native areas. They lamented that the second shift in Landikotal and Jamrud colleges had been discontinued after a year, putting at stake future of students. The speakers said the political administration didn’t spend enough funds on health, education and rehabilitation of the IDPs.
