Thunderstorm likely today

LAHORE

Hot and humid weather was observed in the provincial capital here Friday while for Saturday (today) the Met office predicted rain with thunderstorm at isolated places.

The Met officials said heat low lies over northeast-Balochistan and its adjoining area.

They said penetration of monsoon currents in upper and central parts of the country had weakened. They added that a shallow wave was also affecting upper parts of the country and likely to persist during next 24 to 48 hours. They predicted mainly hot and humid weather in most parts of the country while rain-thunderstorm is expected at isolated places in KP, Zhob, Kalat, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, DG Khan, Multan divisions, Fata, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Light rain is also expected along Sindh-Makran coast.

Rain was recorded in some cities, including Okara (20mm), DG Khan (01mm), Parachinar (08mm), Zhob (04mm), Astore (03mm), Bunji and Skardu (02mm). The Met officials said Friday’s highest maximum temperature was recorded at Nokundi where mercury touched 44°C. In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded as 35°C while humidity level was 62 percent.
