Walks mark Anti-Dengue Day in Lahore
LAHORE
Anti-Dengue Day walk was observed in the province to create awareness among the masses against the disease.
According to a handout Saturday, Secretary Primary and Secondary Health Department Ali Jan Khan led a walk arranged by the department.
The walk was started from Directorate General Health Services and ended at Punjab Assembly building.
DG Health Dr. Mukhtar Hussain Sayed, Additional Director General Dengue Control Dr. Fayyaz Butt, Director Health Non-Communicable Disease Control Dr. Haroon Jehangir Khan, officials and nursing students participated in the walk.
Meanwhile, anti-dengue walk was also arranged in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital where medical superintendent Dr. Nouman Maqbool led the walk a large number of doctors and officials of the hospital participated in the awareness walk.
Similarly, an awareness against dengue was held in Lady Aitchison Hospital Dr. Samina Medical Superintendent led the walk and distributed pamphlets among the patients and their attendants.
UHS: Students, staff and faculty of the University of Health Sciences (UHS) staged a walk on Saturday to create public awareness about dengue fever and its prevention.
According to a press release issued here on Saturday, Prof Aslam Khan of UHS Human Genetics Department said that the university was keeping its campus a “Dengue Free Zone”.
Later, a seminar was organized by the on dengue prevention and control. It was facilitated by the Prof. Dr. Aslamkhan and Dr. Mansoor Ghani.
LGH: Anti-Dengue Day was observed on Saturday at Lahore General Hospital and Post Graduate Medical Institute.
According to a press release issued here on Saturday, the day was started with the cleaning of office of Principal Prof. Khalid Mahmood by himself.
Later every nook and corner and all departments were thoroughly swept up and brushed off. In order to prevent dengue, spray was also carried out throughout the hospital building.
C&W: Anti-dengue day was observed on Saturday.
On the occasion, Superintendent Engineer C&W Zone Punjab Liaquat Husain said no laxity would be tolerated in efforts to combat dengue.
He visited PWD Compound, Mcleod Road, and inspected anti-dengue spray process. He also distributed pamphlets among the locals.
Meanwhile, an anti-dengue walk was held under the supervision of the MD Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board from the Textbook Board upto Liberty Chowk. The participants carried banners and placards.
Queen Mary College principal Prof Dr Irfana Mariam led a dengue walk with teachers and students on the Dengue Day. A seminar in this regard was held at the college.
DPI Colleges Prof Khalid Javed and Director Colleges Rana Naseem also attended the seminar along with Dr Irfana.
walk: On the instructions of Lahore DCO Umsan Younis, Shalamar Town held a dengue awareness walk outside Government Shalamar College, Baghbanpura.
According to a press release issued on Saturday, the walk was led by MNA Pervaiz Malik and attended by a dozens of people, including Shalamar Town TMO Tariq Malik, Administrator Javed Iqbal and chairman of different union councils.
Holding banners and placards, the participants went door-to-door and sensitised the local population about dengue and the measures to control it.
The TMO said the City District Government Lahore, Rescue 1122, Wasa, Lahore Waste Management Company and other departments were working in coordination to create awareness among the public against dengue. He said that all measures were underway to protect the population from dengue.
